When I first joined EnerNOC I was tasked with redesigning our product from the ground up. When we got to the visual design phase, I noticed it was hard for us to communicate internally about stylistic changes – whether it was with stakeholders, product managers or the development team. I decided to craft a digital product style guide for us to gain internal alignment. I spear-headed the effort and worked with the help of development and my UX team to make it a reality. It was such a success we ended up partnering with the brand team to expand the guide as well. The goal was it not to be a bible, but a living a breathing document getting updates on a continual basis.
